Content Marketing - How to Build a Brand through Story Telling



We all know that there is more to marketing these days than just throwing up an ad on Adwords. There has to be more these days and a lot of businesses are going the route of content marketing. But, how do you leverage building a brand and telling a story to create a great marketing strategy for your business.

First, you need to identify your brand. You have to figure out what the values of your business are. Every entity has some kind of mission, which is what you want to do in this world and how you want to change the world. Every single thing wants to make the world better in some way. It is up to you to identify how it is you want to make the world better. Once you have done this, you have identified your mission. Just ask, how is this business changing the world to make it a better place for people to live. Now use that to guide you through the next two steps.

Second, you need to identify your audience. You may easily know certain things about your audience, but identifying your audience is more than that. It is more than knowing the gender and the age of your audience. Sit down and think about what makes your audience tick. What is it that makes your audience happy, sad, excited, tortured. Basically, what is that one thing that makes your audience feel pain. When you know where your audience feels pain, then you can see better how your company helps to alleviate that pain. Now, you have another link to your chain of brand creation.

Third, you need to create the content that you will use to connect to that audience. Think about your options. You can create videos, podcasts, articles, or social media posts. Or all of them. Now, you need to think about your mission and your audience and figure out how you can create a character that can talk about those things. You need a character that you can use to develop a story arc. The character needs a journey, a beginning, middle and end. The journey of your character, how the character gets to a problem and solves the problem, and then feels happiness for having achieved something, is your content. Create your story and then expand upon it to generate content.

This will be how you can grow your brand through content creation and story telling. Look at Nike. They identified their audience, people who play sports. They knew that they wanted to help people play sports better. Then, they had athletes tell stories about their experiences in those sports. And, well, everyone knows Nike did pretty well.

So, use these strategies and start growing your business.
